Christina Blanco Arrested in Death of 13-Month-Old Son Peter Blanco
Joel
In Tuscon, Arizona, Christina A. Blanco, 22,  was charged with first degree murder in the July death of her infant son, Peter. She also faces a child abuse charge.

According to police, the 13-month-old boy died last July 14 when Blanco left him and his four-year-old sister in the care of her boyfriend, Alvaro Andres Ramos-Cardenas, 24 for several hours that morning. About 9:30 a.m., Ramos-Cardenas told Blanco that the baby wasn’t breathing. They called 911.

Emergency personnel took the unresponsive baby to hospital. He died two days later. The baby’s multiple injuries were found to be consistent with child abuse - a fractured skull, brain bleeding and a lacerated liver. Blanco and Ramos-Cardenas told police that Peter stopped breathing after he fell down.

Blanco’s boyfriend, Alvaro Andres Ramos-Cardenas, 24, was arrested following the baby’s death in July. He also faced one count of child abuse after Peter’s four-year-old sister told police that he gave her a bruise on her cheek and a burn on her leg.

Bail for Blanco was set at $100,000. Ramos-Cardenas was released from jail under the supervision of the court’s Pretrial Services Program. The newspapers reported that the whereabouts of Peter’s sister are unknown.
