Dylan lived with his loving parents Ian and Nicole Hockley, along with his brother Jake Hockley. He was described as having a wonderful beaming smile. He loved the color purple, trampolines, and playing computer games. He loved gazing at the moon, and absolutely adored Chocolate. He would play tag every morning with friends while waiting for the school bus. Dylan attended Sandy Hook Elementary School. His favorite teacher’s aide was Ann Marie Murphy. He kept a picture of her on his fridge. Dylan was autistic and was making great strides at Sandy Hook Elemantary.
On December 14, 2012 a gunman forced his way on to the Sandy Hook School grounds, after first killing his mother at home. He killed 20 children, all under the age of 10, and 6 teachers and aids. Dylan was shot while his favorite teacher’s aide, Ann Murphy, was desperately trying to shield him from the bullets. They both did not survive. The shooter, upon hearing first responders arrive, turned the gun on his self, and took his own life.
